Meet the Doctor

Kyle Willets is a doctor of physical therapy with over a decade of experience. She received high honors as a doctoral level graduate from Ithaca College and went on to be nationally recognized as a leader in the field. Her career has ranged from providing trauma-level rehab to preventative medicine and orthopedics. Here are some ways to empower your immunity regardless of when you swing open the doors and venture out (we're imagining an old Western gun-in-holster, mask on/spurs on kind of rendition but that could just because we live in Colorado).

TOP TIPS FOR IMMUNITY:

✔️LAUGHTER: It really is the best medicine. Did you know that one minute of anger weakens the immune system for 4-5 hours, while one minute of laughter boosts the immune system for 24 hours?! Try to fit it in daily and enjoy the immune benefits.

✔️WALKING: Walking utilizes the whole body, and acts like a pumping system to improve circulation of the blood and balance hormones. Thankfully, the weather is getting nicer, so get outside, mask on, spurs on!
.
✔️TOUCH: There really is a medicinal property of human touch. Make an extra effort this week to snuggle, cuddle, hug, or kiss those you are already living with - dogs included! Or perhaps give yourself a hug :)

✔️EXERCISE: Pump up your immune system by pumping some iron (C'mon, you know that made you giggle a little) Moderately intense exercise helps circulate WBCs to different areas, improve lymphatic drainage, and thus improve immunity.

✔️SUPPLEMENTS: There are literally hundreds of supplements out there that claim to boost your immune system. Dr. Kyle suggests going back to basics. Ensure that you and your family have adequate Vitamin D, Zinc, and Vitamin C.

✔️GOOD SLEEP: Ding ding ding - this is a big one for immune health cowgirl. Your schedule may have been turned upside down, but now it's time to make a deal with your Netflix habit and get into a sleep routine that gets your body and mind prepared for better sleep. In this way, you can enter in the proper phases of sleep that are required for a healthy mind and body.

Put the knot end on the outside of the door and then close the door so the knot is on the other side and the loop is now secure. Good morning. Today I'm feeling the change of seas Good morning. Today I'm feeling the change of season, the cool morning air and the first crisp leaves falling. It feels like a fresh week, a new chance. Perhaps you feel that too...how when a season changes there's a unique opening for us to change as well. You swap your cold weather clothes in and the warm weather clothes out and start to eat more cooked foods vs raw. You may notice a change in your sleep patterns or self care, habits shifting as the season shifts. Perhaps there's intentionality around it, a dreamed up vision of how you want to feel this Fall and what choices and habits will best get you there?  I'm dreaming of trail running in a healthy, fit body, digesting gorgeous seasonal foods with ease, and having vibrant energy sun up to sun down. Feeling great doesn't have to mean a ton of sacrifice, just little shifts over time and season by season. ✌💕
